Springing Forward with WIEA

""Let my teaching fall like rain and my words descend like dew, like showers on new grass, like abundant rain on tender plants. I will proclaim the name of the Lord. Oh, praise the greatness of our God!" - Deut 32:2-3

Spring is here and along with it comes a fresh reminder of God’s eternal faithfulness. This year, in particular, the seasonal change ushers in a deep sense of optimism as we all hope in faith that the challenges of a year in lockdown begin to slowly fade into the rearview mirror.

There’s no doubt, though, that our world is forever changed. For many, the pain of the past year will linger far longer than any lockdown restrictions will. Yet, despite all that has changed, God has not. His purposes remain and His pursuit of His children continues in all corners of the world. We celebrate this truth, and we rejoice in the work He continues within the walls of Waupun.

The Senior Class is beginning to feel the excitement of their upcoming graduation, currently scheduled for July 21, 2021. Like all college seniors, they are beginning to talk about all the possibilities ahead of them once they receive their diplomas. Planning for the ceremony is underway between Trinity International University, Wisconsin Department of Corrections (DOC), and WIEA. We’re looking forward to the celebration this summer. A couple of other noteworthy developments. . .

  • There is a planned school break the week of March 29th. When we return, we have been given permission to hold one of our classes in the library/study center, allowing all of the students in that class to come together as a whole group rather than split groups.

  • The DOC has received the clear Chromebooks, and is currently in the process of getting them set up for distribution to the students. This will allow the students the flexibility to type their assignments in their cells, rather than trying to get all of their work done in the classroom. This helps us retain flexibility during lecture time, as well as to be proactively prepared in the event of an unplanned lockdown.

Thank you for your continued prayers and support. This work wouldn’t be possible without your partnership. Specific prayer request this month include:

  • Prayer for the ongoing ceremony preparations being coordinated between Trinity, the DOC and WIEA.

  • Prayer for all our students, but in particular the Senior Class as they near the finish line of their time in the program.

  • Prayer for the continue health and safety of the students, Waupun staff, and our adjunct professors as we continue navigating COVID-19 protocols.
